Specs and Features

The Dakine Titan Gore-Tex Gloves and Mittens boast many features to keep your hands warm, dry, and comfortable in the coldest conditions. Here are the key specifications and features:

Material and Construction: Utilizing a high-quality Gore-Tex insert, these gloves and mittens are waterproof, windproof, and breathable, ensuring your hands stay dry from external moisture and internal sweat. The outer shell is crafted from durable polyester with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish to enhance moisture resistance further.

Insulation: Equipped with Hi Loft synthetic insulation, the Dakine Titan series provides excellent heat retention while maintaining breathability. The gloves come with different insulation levels (with or without wearing liners), catering to varying temperature ranges and user preferences.

Touchscreen Compatibility: The fingertips are designed to be touchscreen compatible, allowing users to operate smartphones and GPS devices without removing the gloves or mittens.

Additional Features: Removable storm liner gloves, which are touchscreen compatible, offer added warmth and convenience. The external waterproof zippered pocket can store small items or serve as a vent. Gauntlets with cinch closures provide a secure fit over jacket sleeves to keep snow out, and the wrist straps ensure the gloves stay attached even when not worn.

Our Experience

To evaluate the Dakine Titan Gore-Tex Gloves and Mittens, we took them to the ultimate testing ground: a week-long skiing trip in the Wasatch Mountains for dry and cold conditions and the Pacific Northwest for wetter conditions.

In Utah, facing temperatures well below freezing, varying snow conditions, and constant use, the gloves and mittens were put through their paces.

The first thing noted was the comfort and fit, especially in the gloves; the gloves felt snug without restricting movement, which is crucial for handling ski poles and adjusting equipment. The mittens were better without the liners. The Gore-Tex performance lived up to its promise, keeping hands dry throughout the day, even in heavy snowfall and sub-zero temperatures.

The touchscreen compatibility was a welcome feature, allowing quick photo captures and GPS checks without exposing hands to the cold; this performed best when pulling off the gloves and using the liners.

One standout feature was the removable storm liner, which added an extra layer of warmth on the coldest days and could be worn on its own during milder conditions. The external zippered pocket proved handy for storing a ski pass and or hand warmers for even more warmth, emphasizing the thoughtful design behind these gloves and mittens.

Wearing them while skiing in the Cascades kept our hands dry and warm; however, mittens kept fingers warmer than the gloves. All other aspects were the same as cold and dry conditions. These are quickly becoming our go-to gloves.
