What is Gore-Tex Waterproofing?

Arguably Gore-Tex is the most widely used material. It was created in 1969 by Wilbert and Robert Gore and has since been utilized not only for its ability to keep out external moisture but also to allow perspiration produced by the body to escape.

This breakthrough technology is used in various products, including winter apparel, camping gear, and footwear! Due to its clever design, the Gore-Tex membrane remains a staple in the outdoor industry as it protects from all sorts of elements while still giving you a comfortable experience

What about my hiking socks?

best hiking shoes 2023

When it comes to hiking, having the right equipment is absolutely essential. The combination of your hike-ready shoes and ideal socks can make all the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful day on the trails.

Not only do socks provide cushioning to your feet while you’re out walking in nature, preventing blisters and providing warmth, but they also ensure that the fit of your shoes remains snug against your foot.

This allows maximum comfort, elevation control, and flexibility during various terrains. When matched correctly with your hiking shoes, there is a guaranteed result of decreased fatigue and improved performance.

If you’re a beginner hiker, the type of socks to go for will depend on your individual preference. Hiking socks come in three different weights – lightweight, midweight and heavyweight – and this dictates their level of thickness.

It’s important to note that the sock’s thickness affects how a hiking shoe fits, so it’s worth taking some time to decide how thick a sock you would like before investing in footwear. Thickness can often help make all the difference when enjoying the great outdoors.
